Shadow Me · Last updated: March 2026

Shadow Me is designed with privacy in mind. All activity data is stored locally on your device. We do not collect personal data and we do not sell data to third parties.

1. Who We Are

Shadow Me is developed and published by Late Night Coffee, an independent software developer. You can contact us at .

2. Data We Collect

Shadow Me does not collect or transmit personal data to any server we operate. The following data is created and stored exclusively on your device:

This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to export or share it (e.g. GPX export or Strava upload), or unless you have Google backup enabled on your device. We do not collect personal information from any user, regardless of age.

3. Location Data

Shadow Me requests access to your device's GPS location to record activities and display your position on the map. Location data is:

You can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings. This will prevent the app from recording new activities.

4. Advertising (Free Version)

The free version of Shadow Me displays banner advertisements provided by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use data to serve personalised ads, including:

This data collection is governed by Google's Privacy Policy: policies.google.com/privacy.

Upgrading to Shadow Me Pro removes all advertisements and all AdMob data collection.

5. In-App Purchases

Shadow Me offers optional in-app purchases (Pro upgrade, Remove ads) processed through Google Play. All payment processing is handled entirely by Google. We do not receive or store any payment or billing information. Google's handling of purchase data is governed by their Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

6. Strava Integration (Pro)

Pro users can optionally connect Shadow Me to Strava to upload activities or import existing ones. If you use this feature:

Strava's handling of your data is governed by Strava's Privacy Policy: strava.com/legal/privacy.

7. OpenStreetMap

Shadow Me uses OpenStreetMap tile servers to display map imagery. When you view the map, your device makes requests to OpenStreetMap tile servers. These requests may include your IP address as part of standard network communication. This is governed by the OpenStreetMap Privacy Policy: osmfoundation.org.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

All activity data is stored locally on your device. You can delete individual activities within the app, or uninstall the app to remove all locally stored data.

If you have Google backup enabled on your device, your activity history and app settings may be backed up to your Google account and restored automatically when you reinstall the app. Sensitive data such as Strava credentials and session state are excluded from this backup. To prevent activity data from being backed up, you can disable Google backup for Shadow Me in your device settings, or disable Google backup entirely under Settings → Google → Backup.

We have no ability to delete data on your behalf as we do not have access to it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The current version will always be available at latenightcoffee.dev/shadow-me/privacy. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
