Setup

01

Grant Location Permission

Open Shadow Me and allow location access when prompted. Choose Allow all the time so GPS continues tracking with the screen off.

02

Allow Notifications

Enable notifications for Shadow Me. This is required for the foreground service that keeps GPS running when the app is minimised or the screen turns off.

03

Disable Battery Optimisation

Go to Settings → Apps → Shadow Me → Battery and select Unrestricted. This prevents Android from pausing GPS mid-run on longer activities.

04

Connect a Heart Rate Monitor (Pro, optional)

With Pro, pair any Bluetooth heart rate monitor — Polar, Wahoo, Garmin HRM, or compatible smartwatch. Tap the heart icon on the tracking screen to connect.

05

Import & Export GPX (Pro)

With Pro, export any activity as a standard GPX file from the activity screen — upload it to Strava, Garmin, or any service manually. You can also import GPX files from other apps to keep everything in one place.
